The council supports schools, individuals and community groups who want to take part in anti-litter projects.
The council promotes anti-litter messages in several ways such as:
Litter busters
The council provide and facilitate free Litter Buster activity packs aimed at groups of children aged four to 11. The pack teaches children why litter is ‘bad’ including both class-based activities and an outdoor litter pick and survey. It helps children to identify, hot spot areas, what is causing the litter and look at ways to prevent it. These can include producing posters to be displayed in the community, or providing assemblies to schools.
Supporting schools and further education establishments
The council provides assemblies, workshops and campaign guidance to reduce litter around education establishments. And are keen to attend open days and events to promote anti litter messages to pupils and students.
The Big Tidy Up
The council promotes and supports Keep Britain Tidy’s, Big Tidy Up campaign. Providing support and assistance to participants for more information please see our Big Tidy Up web page.
Eco-schools
Eco-schools are an international award programme run by Keep Britain Tidy. It covers nine different topic areas, which include litter. North Lincolnshire Council promotes and supports the programme. For more information and to see which schools have signed up follow the link to Eco-schools.
Campaigns
The council recognises the importance of raising awareness about the issues of litter and hopes campaigns such as the Dirty Pig and Vehicle Litter will help to reduce instances of litter.
