Transport for students aged 16 to 19 for the 2008/2009 academic year
If you are considering applying to a college or school sixth form, you may be eligible for help with your transport.
Courses covered
Your chosen course of study must be a full time course. This is at least 450 guided learning hours of further education. It must be at a publicly funded institution for at least 30 weeks.
School or college attended
The course must be at a college or sixth form in North Lincolnshire. This is unless a college outside the area is much easier to get to. And if the course you wish to study is unavailable in North Lincolnshire and is essential for your future career.
Repeat courses
Support is offered for the normal duration of the course. We will not normally extend student travel support to repeat part of a course if exams are failed or unsatisfactory progress is made. This is unless, in our opinion, there are special circumstances such as medical reasons. If you want us to consider an application for travel support when you are repeating a course, you should write to us. Enclose evidence from your doctor and/or the school or college.
Personal eligibility
a) Residence
You must be living in North Lincolnshire on the first day of your course, have 'settled status' and have been resident in the British Isles for at least three years before the start of the course. Or, be a national of any EU country and have been ordinarily resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) for at least three years before the course starts or meet other EMA residency criteria. Anyone who moves to North Lincolnshire for the purpose of receiving full-time education may not be eligible for support from the council.
b) Three year limit
We will normally only give support for a maximum of three years in total. If you are planning study which might be eligible for support, and which is likely to take more than three years, you should consider which years you wish to receive support.
