Resolving disagreement

If you disagree with the decisions or provisions made by the school or the council regarding your child's special educational needs, the Special Educational Needs Section welcomes the opportunity to discuss your concerns.

If you feel you need support or advice during these discussions, the local Parent Partnership Service will be happy to help you.

If you feel that discussions have not addressed your concerns you can contact the Yorkshire and Humberside Special Educational Needs (SEN) Mediation. This is an independent service set up to help sort out SEN disagreements in Yorkshire and Humberside. The people involved in the dispute work together to reach an acceptable solution, with the help of a mediator. Using the mediation service does not affect your right of appeal to the SEN tribunal. You can use mediation at any time during a disagreement.

The contact details are:

Yorkshire and Humberside SEN Mediation
PO Box 232
