Educational service for hearing and vision

The service provides professional advice and support for pupils and students in mainstream schools and special schools.

Educational service for the visually impaired

The educational service for the visually impaired supports pupils from pre-school age, through to primary school, secondary school and into further education.

The service provides a range of support both within the home and in school, which includes:

  • specialist teaching
  • classroom assistance
  • access to special equipment
  • adapted learning resources

Professional development courses are also available on request.

The service offers educational support to children and young people with visual impairment in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

Specialist Educational Needs Teaching Team (SENTT)

The Specialist Educational Needs Teaching Team (SENTT) offers a wide variety of support to schools, parents, pupils and agencies involved with special educational needs.

The service assists teachers by delivering education in many different environments, for example hospital units, homes and centres. Wherever possible the service aims to provide education in a mainstream setting as near as possible to the pupils own home.

Education preparation unit

The unit provides support for pre-school pupils and their parents or carers. For more information call 01724 846141.

Education support service

The service supports pupils in accessing education and promotes attendance. For information and advice call Wendy Holmes on 01724 296963.

Schools hearing support team

The service provides support in schools for children with hearing impairments.

Educational Psychology and Specialist Learning Services promote and support the education and social inclusion of children with additional and special needs, including:

  • Learning difficulties
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Autistic spectrum disorders and
  • Medical needs
