A PANDA report puts data about a school into a series of tables and charts. PANDA stands for performance and assessment report. It enables schools to see how effective they are compared with other schools. The PANDA report also presents comparisons with all schools in England, and with other similar schools.
The information in the report helps schools look at their strengths and weaknesses and then develop plans to raise standards. The report uses data from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) along with information from inspections. Head teachers are sent the report in autumn. OFSTED inspectors receive a copy of the report before they inspect a school.
The format of the PANDA is standard but the data in each report is specific to a particular school. They are widely used because schools can see at a glance how they compare with others, and do not have to calculate their own figures.
