Transport for pupils from low income groups

From September 2008, in addition to the transport policy, free transport will be provided for children aged 11 to 16 from low income groups if they:

  • Attend one of their three nearest qualifying schools, and
  • Live more than two, but no more than six miles from the school

or

  • Attend a school based on their parent's religion and belief, and
  • Live more than two, but no more than 15 miles from the school.

From September 2007, in addition to the present policy above, free transport will be provided for children aged eight to 11 from low income groups if they live more than two miles from their nearest qualifying primary school.
