All our menus meet the new food-based standards and are freshly cooked from scratch.
Our menus offer a combination of traditional meals and international flavours. These are complimented by fresh vegetables, salads, fresh fruit and home baked products.
We take our responsibility of providing lunch for pupils very seriously, and want them to enjoy what is served to them. Children can sit down together and enjoy their meal while at the same time developing the social skills of eating together that are so important in later life.
A well fed happy child is more likely to be receptive to participating in the afternoon's school activities.
We have rigorous standards with regard to food and ingredients. Our food ‘rules’ include:
- A no nut policy
- We do not knowingly use any products containing GM ingredients and seek assurances from our suppliers that the products they provide to us do not contain GM ingredients
- Restriction on additives
- Minimal use of processed products
- No added salt to cooking
- The steaming of vegetables
We put our menus together with children's tastes in mind and any new recipes or products are taste tested by pupils in schools.
If your child has special dietary needs, we can still provide them with a meal.
We have a formal process for providing meals for children requiring medical diets such as: celiac, diabetic or food intolerance. In this instance, your first point of contact would be your headteacher, who will the talk to the school cook.
Our meals cost £1.80 per day.
