All food contracts are let under EU tender regulations, in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
We seek to use local supplies and products as much as is practicable. Our four key food distributors are based in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Sixty five per cent of the fresh vegetables and meat we serve are supplied locally.
We have a commitment to ensure all our food is class 1 in quality and value, reviewing and updating product listings to maintain a high quality service.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council procures our food contracts and carries out supplier inspections, ensuring and enforcing the HACCP principle throughout all stages of purchasing and delivery.
This is in line with the Food Hygiene Regulations (1990). When sampling new products, we involve pupils and catering teams to ensure new additions to the menu are acceptable to all involved.
Regular inspections and visits are requested to all suppliers throughout the contractual period to audit agreed provision amendments are in place.
In addition, we within North Lincolnshire, work in partnership with our Trading Standards officers and Environmental Health officers visiting sites, monitoring quality and investigating complaints and any other issues of concern.
All deliveries are made in clean, refrigerated, if appropriate, vehicles, within the agreed schedule.
If you’d like to be considered as a future supplier, please contact John Connor or Michelle Braithwaite, principal procurement officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 01482 395342.
