2. General information on admissions

Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (as amended by the Education Act 2002 and The Education and Inspections Act 2006) each local council is required to publish annually information regarding its policies for admission to schools. The publication of this information is designed to help parents to express their preference/s for the school they wish their child to attend.

This booklet has been prepared for:

  • all parents of children who are due to start school in the academic year 2009/10 (This includes all children born between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005);
  • parents of children transferring to a junior school in September 2009; and
  • parents of children transferring to secondary school in September 2009.

The local council's admission scheme is coordinated with other councils' admission schemes and also schools within North Lincolnshire who are their own admission authority (see types of school below). The coordinated schemes are explained in Section 3 for admission to primary, infant and junior schools and Section 4 for admission to secondary schools.
