G. Admission outside the normal age group

Although most children will be admitted to a school within their own age group, on rare occasions parents may seek places outside their normal age group for gifted or talented children, or those who have experienced problems or missed part of a year often due to ill health.

The council will consider those requests carefully and make decisions on the basis of the circumstances of each case.

It is not our policy to move children outside of their normal age group as these needs should be met by the school they currently attend.

Parents refused an application for a place outside the normal age group have a statutory right of appeal. (see section 5 Appeals).
