Exclusions

Headteachers have the legal right and responsibility to exclude pupils for a fixed period, or in extreme cases, permanently.

This sanction is available for use when necessary to ensure the effective education and welfare of pupils and staff in schools.

Current Department for Education advice regarding all aspects of exclusions are included in their document "Improving behaviour and attendance: guidance on exclusion from schools and pupil referral units."

The council provides support and advice for parents of excluded children and for the child.

For further information please contact Julie Johnstone, Engagement and Behaviour Support Officer on 01724 297247 or email  julie.johnstone@northlincs.gov.uk.
