Educational visits

School visits are a great learning opportunity for pupils. They provide learning experiences that cannot be taught in the classroom.

School visits can help:

  • Pupils to develop initiative
  • Increase levels of resourcefulness
  • Increase independence

It is essential that all visits are carried out with the highest regard for the safety and welfare of the pupils taking part in them.

For further information please contact:

Tony Wilburn (Educational Visits Officer)

An Educational Visits Policy is accessible online. It is available to all school staff and governors, via the Evolve website. It contains the full policy and up to date relevant information. In addition it has links to other relevant sites and all documentation needed for planning a school visit.

Guidance has been developed by the Outdoor Education Adviser's Panel to provide helpful and practical advice to council's, governing bodies, head teachers and teachers involved in school visits. The guidance can be viewed on the OEAP website.
