Background information
On 4 December 2006, the School Organisation Committee (SOC) unanimously decided to approve the proposals to merge both South Leys Business and Enterprise College and Thomas Sumpter School - A Specialist College in English and Media Arts. The merge took place on 1 September 2007 and the new school was named Melior Community College for Business, Enterprise and the Arts. Once the new Melior Community School is built all pupils would be transferred. The target date for the new community college is on, or before, summer 2010.
