North Lincolnshire Council is committed to keeping you informed with the latest news regarding BSF.

March 2009 - North Lincolnshire has selected its preferred bidder for BSF. A joint venture consortium led by May Gurney Ltd was chosen following a detailed evaluation of submissions from two bidders, following close of dialogue at the end of January. The decision was made by Cllr Tony Gosling, cabinet member for Children's Services. This decision is subject to the normal scrutiny arrangements and is scheduled to be implemented on 9 April 2009.

The next steps are for the detailed contracts to be finalised between the council and preferred bidder, following which the Local Education Partnership will be formed. The LEP will deliver the capital investment and subsequent maintenance services for 7 Scunthorpe secondary schools. It is expected that the LEP will be in place by July 2009.

January 2009 - Closing date anticipated for final tenders to be submitted from bid teams.

Autumn Term 2008 - Further design development meetings held between bidders andtwo sample schools to develop design for Brumby and Melior colleges

September 2008 - Final two bidders selected to continue dialogue. Generation Education North Lincolnshire and May Gurney Consortium.

September 2008 - Foxhills Discover Centre opens to Year 7 pupils.

July 2008 - Work commences at Foxhills Technology College (Ftc) on the 'Discover Centre'.

June 2008 - All three bid teams submitted their individual interim bids on 20 June 2008.These are at present being evaluated.

June 2008 - The winners of the National Poetry Day 2007 competition were:

  • First winner - Zoe Jarvis - High Ridge School
  • Second winner - Abbey Kitson, Melior Community College
  • Tjird winner - Guled Mohamed, High Ridge School.

This event proved very successful and the quality and creativity of all participants was a credit to the young people and their schools.

June 2008 - The three bid teams were invited to present their current sample school designs, prior to interim bid submission, to representatives of The Commission for Architecture and the Build Environment (CABE) on 3 June 2008.

May 2008 - The BSF Agenda Issue 2 was published in May 2008.

May 2008 - As part of the BSF design dialogue process, two design days were organised. Day one involved both staff and pupils of the two sample schools (Brumby Engineering College and Melior Community College). Day two was an opportunity for each of our bid teams to present individually their current designs to architects and the BSF team.

March 2008 - It was agreed that one of the BSF schools should host a testbed to trial the use of flexible spaces and innovative ICT. Foxhills Technology College (Ftc) was selected with the aim to commence in September 2008.

February 2008 - Supply companies who are interested in providing future BSF services should contact the following named representatives from each of the consortiums:
