Communication

We believe that face-to-face contact is best and promote this wherever possible.

But there may be times when one of our team is unavailable. If this is the case, please call our office on 01724 847151.

There is a 24-hour answer-phone service to cover times when no one is in the office.

If you prefer to use email, we will be pleased to respond to that instead. Please bear in mind that we are mostly out in schools, so delays are possible. Our email address is: nledpsychology@northlincs.gov.uk.

Parental contact

We encourage parents to raise their concerns initially through their child’s school. This is to ensure that teachers are fully aware of the issues involved. It also means they can use time more efficiently. It can also help senior teachers and special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs) to co-ordinate the school’s resources.

Concerns

We aim to handle concerns as quickly as possible. Any concern involving a member of our team should first be addressed directly to that person, who will seek to respond constructively. We expect the vast majority of concerns to be speedily resolved in this way. But in the rare event that the concern is not resolved it should be raised with the Principal Psychologist.

Boundary issues

School catchment areas sometimes overlap with those of other councils. In these cases, the normal procedure is that we will provide education psychology advice for any pupil attending a North Lincolnshire school up to the point of statutory assessment. This will happen even if they are resident in another council area. However, when a statutory assessment is used it is the parent council's responsibility. This is because we are unable to decide what their financial commitments should be. We provide the same service for North Lincolnshire pupils attending schools in other council areas.
