The council's Positive Handling and Behaviour Management team provides training for schools.
The training helps to reduce the risks from challenging behaviour using team-teach strategies.
The team-teach course helps schools and services to:
- Develop a whole school approach to managing disruptive, disturbing, angry and aggressive behaviour
- Use of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation strategies
- Use of appropriate positive handling strategies
- Promote safety for all
- Meet the requirements for duty of care
- Provide a process of repair and reflection for both staff and children following serious incidents
- Develop risk assessments
- Develop recording and reporting procedures required by law
