Course length - 30 weeks
Course venue - Barton Adult Education Centre
The course is aimed at people who have an interest in making their own jewellery either for themselves or to make as presents. No prior knowledge is needed.
Learners will be taught the basic skills needed to complete craft projects. On the course you will look at ways of adapting resources, equipment and you will be shown where ideas can be accessed from through a variety of different sources. The areas that will be covered are looking at making a variety of different sources, bracelets, and earrings using different methods such as beading, fabric dying, wire work and ribbon and cord work.
During the 30 weeks, the course will be split into three units. Each unit consists of a total of 20 hours.
- Unit 1 – Explore available resources to develop basic craft skills
- Unit 2 – Explore and develop ideas creatively
- Unit 3 – Create, present and review a final craft item.
Throughout the course learners will need to keep a portfolio of work and produce two final craft items.
There will be some cost involved in buying materials and equipment to complete the projects.
Progression:
NCFE level 2 creative craft course in jewellery making or other craft courses such as mixed crafts or
painting courses. We can also signpost to other providers detailed in the centre information folder.
