The course is designed for those with some experience of watercolour painting or people with an aptitude for painting and drawing.

The course will provide learners with knowledge and understanding of watercolour painting techniques.
Course aim
To enable learners to experiment and develop watercolour painting skills and apply techniques to create a still life, landscape and seascape painting.
Content and learning outcomes
Learners will be able to:

Identify and apply intermediate watercolour wash techniques; wet on wet, graded, layering, lifting out, salt, wax resist, sponging, and the use of art masking fluid

Practice drawing line and perspective when composing paintings

Originate and develop paintings from primary and secondary sources including still life, landscape and seascape.

Select and use appropriate techniques and materials for each painting
Methods of assessment
Learner record and sketchbook/portfolio.
The course tutor will share with learners an individual learning programme to ensure each learner is aware of their personal progress on the course.
The course tutor will provide guidance and feedback relating to progress.
Requirements for first session
- A4 size sketchbook
- 300 GMS watercolour paper
- Various grade B pencils.
Please bring along any painting materials that you may have. There will be some materials available to use at the first session. Further discussion regarding materials and equipment will take place on the first session.
