Family learning

The council's adult education service specialises in providing family learning opportunities within North Lincolnshire and works closely with local schools and the Extended Schools coordinators.

Family Learning courses are for adults and children who enjoy learning together. Here's a taste of what's on offer with the adult education service.

Join the healthy eating club with Kids' Cuisine - practical basic food preparation and ideas for more creative packed lunches, and a chance to try some new tastes.

Get to know your toddler by joining an EarlyStart course. You will make friends, find out how to support your child's developing language skills, and go home with ideas for lots of stimulating activities.

Art and craft sessions let you get creative together - not to say messy!

Keeping up with the children gives parents up to date skills to support their children with their school work and can lead to a national certificate in Literacy or Numeracy. There are also Family Learning courses to help if you are learning English.

Senses lets you into the secret of why some things smell terrible and how our ears work, with lots of activities to help you and your children find out the answers yourselves.

You can also get hands-on with laptops and digital cameras to make your own bookmarks or personalised cards for your friends.

What do other mums and dads and grandparents think about family learning?

"We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the session."

"I feel a little more confident with English."

"I like to be able to help my grandchildren."

"We had a great time making birthday cards for Nan."

"I will go on to further qualifications and find work."

"I enjoyed spending more quality time with the kids."

"The kids have already been more adventurous with foods used in the course."

"I think my daughter has a better understanding of healthy options."

Keep an eye open for family learning summer holiday sessions near you and join in the fun!
