As long as you are aged 16 (and have left school) or over you are welcome to join any vocational/ certificated course we offer. The fees for courses are shown in the courses section of the website or can be obtained from one of our adult community learning centres.

Vocational (certificated) course fees are set in line with the Skills Funding Agency (SFA)
Fees for non-vocational courses are based on £2.30 per hour.
All learners will be charged a £5 administration fee for each non-vocational course, including those eligible for a reduced or nil fee (unless stated otherwise)
Vocational (certificated) courses
Nil fee for people in receipt of:

Job seekers allowance (JSA) or employment and support allowance in the work related activity group (ESA (WRAG)) Learners on JSA and ESA (WRAG) are not required to pay the exam/registration fee

Learners (of all ages) studying their first level two qualification (only applies currently to ECDL and childcare qualifications)

Learners studying skills for life courses - literacy and numeracy (not including ESOL)
Non-vocational courses
Nil fee for people in receipt of:
- Job seekers allowance (JSA)
- Employment and support allowance (ESA) in the work related activity group (WRAG)
- Working tax credit*
- Aged 60 or over and receiving pension guarantee credit
- Income support
- Council tax relief**/ housing benefit
- An unwaged dependent of any of the above.
* and with a household income of below £15,275 as stated on the award notice
** excluding single person relief
Half fee for people in the following category:
- Aged 60 or over, not in receipt of Pension Guarantee Credit
Skills for life (English and maths classes)
Literacy and numeracy classes are normally free, however a fee will be payable by non EU/non UK residency learners.
ESOL
These classes are charged at £67 per term. However these do not apply to non EU/ non UK residency learners who will be charged at a higher rate.
Subject to criteria, ESOL learners may be eligible for help with fees through the ESOL financial support fund.
