Workforce planning now forms part of the council’s service planning process.
It helps
us build a local workforce that can deliver improved services, greater efficiencies
and better customer focus in frontline services.
Each
of our services produce an annual Workforce Plan, covering the
next three to five years. This aims to:
- Identify
current and future skills and numbers of employees needed to deliver new and
improved services
- Analyse
the present workforce’s characteristics in relation to these needs
- Compare
the present workforce and the desired future workforce to highlight shortages,
surpluses and competency gaps
- Examine
the diversity profile at all levels against that of the local population.
To
help each service carry out this process, the council has produced a Workforce
Planning Toolkit. A copy of this is attached below:
