Information Management Policy

The council generates and receives an enormous amount of information. It therefore acknowledges that information is one of its key corporate assets and as such requires the application of the same discipline to its management as is applied to its other important corporate assets (e.g. finance, people and material/property).

In order to maximise the effective and efficient use of its information it is crucial that the council has a corporate view on how it will manage the creation, storage, retrieval, disposal and sharing of information effectively and consistently across the organisation.

Good information management is vital in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the council's services, as well as demonstrating accountability for its decisions and activities.
