The Audit Commission has classed North Lincolnshire as an 'excellent' council. This is up from a 'good' rating in December 2002 and December 2003. It is one of only four councils with this top rating in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The Audit Commission looked at how the council is run and how its main services perform. They recognised that the council has made improvements in social care over the last year. They have highlighted the services provided to the elderly, which have continued to improve - with more people being helped to live at home through increased use of intensive home care and the provision of equipment and adaptations.
The Audit Commission has also recognised the council's hard work to improve the quality of housing and plans to improve leisure services where investment has been limited. The commission says that based on North Lincolnshire Council's strong track record and current plans, the council has the potential to significantly improve the way it works and the services it provides to local people.
