People trading on a street or verge of a street may need street trading consent.
Street trading is controlled in accordance with the provisions contained in Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
The council adopted this schedule on 1 April 2000. As a result, all streets within North Lincolnshire are designated as Consent Streets. This means that anyone who wishes to trade on a street, highway or other area to which the public have access without payment must hold street trading consent.
In addition, anyone trading on adjacent land within seven metres of the highway is required to hold a street trading consent.

A street is any road, footway or other area to which the public have access without payment.

Trading is the selling or exposing or offering for sale of any article (including a living thing) in a street.
