Scaffolding licences

If you are carrying out any building work/maintenance or removing any part of a property next to the public highway (road, pavement or rear lane), the safety of all highway users must be paramount.

Safe areas must be provided at ground level or a platform at high level.

If you need to place hoardings on the highway around the place of work or scaffolding, you must get permission from the council by completing the relevant forms.

The conditions attached to the licence must be carefully read and kept to at all times.

Charges for erecting scaffolding on the highway from 5 April 2011:
