Equality and diversity in procurement

There are a number of pieces of legislation that outlaw discrimination in the areas of service delivery and employment. This also includes in procurement. Most pieces of diversity legislation also require councils to demonstrate a positive duty to eliminate discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity.

Diversity legislation requires the council to take proactive steps to assess whether there is equality of opportunity for everyone: our staff, the public served, and the businesses who work on behalf of the council and to make changes where this is not the case.

North and North East Lincolnshire Council's regard equality and diversity in procurement as an important factor when carrying commercial dealings. All groups in our community have a right to expect that public money is spent on services which suit your needs, and that it is spent in a way which promotes equality of opportunity and delivers high quality goods and services.

If you wish to discuss any matters relating to procurement please phone 01724 296064 or 01472 324153.
