Your questions answered
1: I filled in the registration form the council sent last year. Do I need to fill in any other forms?
A: You do not need to fill in another form as long as your details are still the same. If your details have changed and you want to re-register, you need to complete an ER3 form - which is an application to be registered as an elector. You can download the form or get it from Pittwood House and Local Links.
2: How do I know if I’m on the electoral register?
A: Contact the council's Electoral Registration Officer at Pittwood House on 01724 296245 or fax 01724 296088.
3: Do I have to let you know if I move?
A: No, it is completely up to you. If you don’t let us know you have moved, you will still have a vote at your old address. Only the regular October update is compulsory.
4: Can I put my whole family on the form?
A: You can include your whole family on the ER3 form as long as they are over 18 years old , or nearly 18. Remember each of them will have to sign the form.
5: I’ve already let my council know I’ve moved and am paying council tax at my new address. Can they update the electoral register for me?
A: No, the only way you can update your electoral records is by filling in the Application to be registered as electors (ER3 form).
6: What if I change my name?
A: If your name has changed, you are welcome to use the ER3 form to update the register.
7: How long does it take my new details to get on the electoral register?
A: We update the list at the beginning of most months. We’ll update your details in two to six weeks, depending on when you register them.
8: Where can I get more information?
A: For more information please contact the council at:
