Post office closure survey

This consultation finished in March 2007.

Post offices provide a key service in our villages and towns. They touch the lives of millions of people from all walks of life. A network is essential – it has a social value as well as an economic role. There are around 60 independently-run post offices in North Lincolnshire.

The council worked with the National Federation of Subpostmasters to help promote feedback on the Government post office consultation ending on 8 March 2007.

The Government had announced a restructure of the post office network involving up to 2,500 closures, mainly threatening rural communities.

Closures were planned to start in summer 2007 and finish in winter 2008. Some post offices in North Lincolnshire had closed, mostly in Scunthorpe – Frodingham Road and Rowland Road.

The council asked local residents to complete a short questionnaire to tell us what they thought about the post office closure plans.
