Neighbourhood policing

This consultation finished in November 2006.

The Government is changing the way policing is carried out. North Lincolnshire has been selected as the pathfinder Neighbourhood Policing pilot for Humberside Police.

The area will test it out ready for the rest of the force’s area and its national introduction. This fresh approach is not just about what the police do, but more about the wider neighbourhood. It will involve residents, other service providers and the police.

Neighbourhood teams will be supported by other staff who will also provide a policing service. For example, detectives will continue to investigate crime. Officers in cars will continue to provide an emergency service. The Neighbourhood pilot is about access to the police through a named neighbourhood officer, influence by residents over local policing priorities, and involvement by joint action groups.

To help plan and successfully achieve neighbourhood policing, Humberside Police wanted to know what local residents thought about the proposed changes.
