This consultation finished on 21 January 2008.
The council asked for views on a draft strategy that looks at making more use of 'greenspace' in North Lincolnshire.
The term 'greenspace' refers to grassed open spaces such as parks, crematoria and allotments. North Lincolnshire is home to 420 hectares of greenspace, which is managed and maintained by the council. The Government and the council recognise the importance that these green spaces play in the lives of people of all ages.
Research has found that communities want to live in 'greener' places, and that they are viewed as cleaner, safer and more welcoming. The council wants to develop greenspace in North Lincolnshire so residents have areas to relax, young people and their parents have places to play and people have more areas to exercise and play sports outdoors.
Green areas such as Central Park and Kingsway Gardens in Scunthorpe are already used by the public for activities such as dog walking, socialising and relaxing. If the council's greenspace strategy is put into place, areas such as these will be developed further so people can take full advantage of them.
It's vital that the council looks at the long-term plans about how it manages and develops green spaces in the future. As part of this it needed to know what local residents thought about these plans.
The strategy is attached below. Due to the large size of the document we have split it into several parts to make it easier to download.
