The 2001 census showed that North Lincolnshire had a population of 152,849. This was an increase of 562 (0.4 per cent) from the 1991 census.
Population estimates based on the 2001 Census are updated annually whilst population projections are updated every two years and show how North Lincolnshire’s population is predicted to change.
Population estimates
The most up to date population estimates (mid-2009) were released at the end of June 2010.
Nationally, the UK population was 61.8 million according to the Office for National Statisitcs. This was a 394,000 (0.6 per cent) rise on the previous year and an increase of 2.7 million compared with mid-2001.

Population projections
2008-based Sub national Population Projections for England (SNPP) were published in May 2010. They give an indication of future trends in population for the period 2008-2033.
According to the latest data, the population of North Lincolnshire is set to rise from 160,500 in 2008 to over 190,000 by 2033.
These projections are consistent with the revised mid-2008 population estimates that were published in May 2010 and the 2008-based national population projections published in October 2009.
