Our Best Value Review Programme

All local authorities are required from April 2000 to undertake best value reviews of each of the services they provide at least once every five years. These reviews are intended to be the principal means by which we consider new approaches to service delivery and set demanding performance targets aimed at achieving continuous efficiency and quality improvements. In carrying out these reviews we will need to address the Government’s 4Cs agenda by:

  1. Challenging why, how and by whom a service is being provided;
  2. Comparing our performance with others;
  3. Consulting local taxpayers, service users and partner organisations; and
  4. using fair and open Competition wherever practicable to secure efficient and effective services.
