What is Best Value?
Best Value is a Government initiative that seeks to bring about continuous improvement in the cost and quality of services provided by local councils.
The council's Strategic Plan
Every council needs to show how well and at what cost they are providing key services to the public. In previous years the council produced an annual performance plan. This compared our past performance with that of other councils and set targets for future improvement.
Last year the council replaced the performance plan with a strategic plan. This provides:
- a clear sense of direction for the council for three years
- the council's performance information.
Details of our performance against national and local indicators (Best Value Performance Indicators, or BVPIs for 2007/08) are shown below:
