Name of service: |
Youth Offending Team |
|
Service Offered:
|
The principal aim of the Youth Justice System is to prevent offending by children and young people. In turn, this can prevent crime and the fear of crime. This is achieved by ensuring services are targeted at children and young people at high risk of offending. It is also important to meet the needs of victims and communities.
The service ensures that young people who do offend are identified and dealt with without delay. This includes ensuring that punishment is in proportion to the seriousness and frequency of offending. It also promotes interventions with young people that reduce risk factors associated with offending and reinforces the responsibilities of parents. |
