The Traveller Education Service is part of the Inclusion Service team.
The service works with all traveller groups including:
- Gypsy travellers
- Irish travellers
- Show people (circus and fair travellers)
- New age travellers
- Boat dwellers
- Roma/rom
The service works with schools, North Lincolnshire Council's education service and other education providers. They hope to raise standards of achievement for all traveller pupils living in North Lincolnshire. This includes those settled in houses, on sites or short stay mobile groups.
The Traveller Education Service:
- Ensures traveller pupils have access to mainstream education
- Supports schools to provide a fully inclusive education to meet the needs of individual traveller pupils
- Works with other providers to make sure the welfare needs of travellers are met when they live within North Lincolnshire Council's boundary.
The service also works with traveller families to:
- Develop early learning at home
- Encourage access to pre-school provision
- Develop adult education provision
- Develop family learning.
