Community safety
The North Lincolnshire Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership (NLSNP) can provide information on:
- crime and disorder
- antisocial behaviour
- drugs issues.
Safer Neighbourhoods is a partnership between:
- The emergency services.
- Councils.
- Public, private and voluntary sector agencies.
These organisations work together to reduce crime, disorder and substance misuse.
Safer Neighbourhoods partnerships were formed as a result of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. There are 376 partnerships across England and Wales.
The NLSNP was formerly known as the Community Safety Partnership. In April 2004, it merged with the Drug Action Team. It also took on the additional responsibility for substance misuse. This includes drug and alcohol misuse.
The partnership works on a number of different levels to improve community safety in the area. From an executive boardroom to a resident's living room, Safer Neighbourhoods activity takes many different forms. Examples of the partnership's work include:
- Meeting together to look at changing trends in crime and drug use.
- Sharing information and ideas about crime and drugs.
- Trying to improve how existing services are delivered.
- Commissioning drug treatment services and crime reduction measures.
- Encouraging young people to take up useful leisure activities.
- Working together with residents and voluntary groups on specific neighbourhood problems.
Standards for dealing with Anti-social Behaviour
The Safer Neighbourhood's partnership has adopted the following set of minimum standards that citizens can expect in response to the handling of anti-social behaviour incidents.
