Stacey's search - a family history research case study

Tracing family history has become one of the fastest growing hobbies in the world. Television programmes on the subject have increased people’s desire to know where they came from and how their ancestors lived.

Finding out your own family tree can be a moving and slowly addictive experience. But for those of you wanting to take on the challenge of discovering your roots, it really couldn’t be easier to get started.

The council has never been more equipped to help local people with researching their family tree as it is now. The council’s libraries, adult education service, registry officemuseum and many other services can all provide clues and answers to anyone wanting to discover their roots.

The pages below follow a local resident's family history search. This may give you some ideas of how to research your own family tree.
