Safeguarding peer review
In October 2010 we commissioned Local Government Improvement and Development (LGID) to undertake a “Safeguarding Children Peer Review.” This was not an inspection, but an opportunity to have a "critical friend‟ assist us in celebrating our strengths and identify areas for improvement.
The key purpose was to see how we can become more effective in delivering improved safe outcomes for our children and young people.
The Peer Team, which consisted of six "critical friends‟, familiarised themselves with our services based on the wider document review, questionnaire, case mapping and on site interviews and focus groups. They deemed the visit to be very well organised, indicated that they had been made very welcome and were of the opinion that people were extremely open and honest and that people's views cross referenced with the information available.
The final report and slides from their "initial findings" presentation are available below.
