Public realm design guidance

A public realm design guidance document has been created which makes a series of recommendations for the improvement and management of Scunthorpe public realm. It focuses on the provision of public art to transform the town's image. A Public Art Strategy has been produced as a companion document to the public realm guidance.

The design guidance, prepared by LDA Design in 2006, makes specific recommendations for the town centre including:

  • Minimising clutter
  • Utilising a limited and consistent palette of materials for new street-works
  • Promotion of the evening economy
  • Anchor attractions at either end of the High Street
  • Development of 'the Streets'
  • Provision of places for events and cultural activities.

The strategy has been broken down into its chapters for easier web viewing.
