Ecology and the environment

The development of the South Humber Gateway provides a major strategic challenge to successfully harmonise the natural and industrial environments. North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire councils are working with Natural England to develop a framework to harmonise the ecological and economic development of the South Humber Gateway. The plan will be built into the two Local Development Frameworks.  It will provide a framework to assess the impact of economic development on the estuary’s habitat and how this can be addressed.

The Environment Agency, Natural England, RSPB, and English Heritage are also heavily involved in helping to create sustainable development on the SHG while maintaining an ecological balance.
