Education welfare services

Description

The council's Education Welfare Service provides a number of services to the area's schools, including:

  • Giving advice and strategies to schools to help them address school attendance issues.
  • Regulating child employment and licenses for children who perform.
  • Developing and managing support to reintegrate pupils back into school.
  • Undertaking truancy patrols in partnership with the police.
  • Giving child protection and parenting guidance.
  • Prosecuting parents who fail to ensure their child's school attendance.
