How to claim benefits

You can claim housing and/or council tax benefit by printing off and completing the application form below. The form is long but we have tried to make it as simple as possible.

Important - The information on this form is held on a computer and is therefore covered by the Data Protection Acts 1998.

The information collected on this form and from any supporting evidence, will be used by North LincolnshireCouncil to process your claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

The information may be passed to the Department of Work and Pensions, Employment Service and Inland Revenue as permitted by law.

We may check information provided by you, or information about you provided by a third party, with other information held by us.

We may also get information from certain third parties, such as Government Departments and other local authorities, or give information to them to check the accuracy of information, to prevent or detect crime or to protect public funds in other ways, as permitted by law.

This authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you have provided on this form within this authority for the prevention and detection of fraud.

It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes. The information you provide may also be shared with Experian, a Credit Reference Agency, for the purpose of preventing and detecting fraud.

Benefit Fraud Investigations could possibly include checks on undeclared co-habitors.

You can also get an application form from the council's Benefits section, from your nearest Local Link office, or by telephoning our enquiry line on 01724 296131.

Application forms should be returned directly to the benefits section or your nearest Local Link office.

We want to pay your benefit as soon as possible. To enable us to pay your claim, you must supply a number of original documents as well as the necessary claim forms.

Do not delay in submitting the benefit application form while waiting for documents to accompany it as these can be forwarded at a later date.

Any delay in submitting your application form can result in loss of benefit.
