Appealing against a council tax or housing benefit decision

If you think the decision about your housing or council tax benefit is wrong, you can ask us to explain it. If you still think it is wrong after we have explained it to you, we will look at it again (reconsider it).

For some decisions, you can appeal to an independent tribunal. It will change the decision if it agrees that it is wrong.

There are time limits for asking for decisions to be looked at again and for appealing. More information is provided in our appeals leaflet. The leaflet is available to download:
